Lots of bears here. Every year when we have heavy hard mast, the dnr panics and cuts tags. The following year, the extra bears cause even more trouble.

Yeah we are seeing more and more here in Mason County.
Read a report that said 13,000 maybe more black bears in the state.

I’ve got a good buddy that works for the dnr. He was part of the ten year bear study. He run traps and such. Nothing of him to transport a trapped bear 100 plus miles to only have it show back up with a few days. They move a lot.

I don’t know the numbers. I just know I see them every where. All the time. When I was a practicing forester, it was one thing. But, I don’t get in the woods like I used to and I still see them regularly. In places they shouldn’t be.

Like I said above, I don’t know the numbers. But, I think 13,000 is really low. I live in suburbs by rural standards. They are here. They are here in high numbers. In another month they’ll be all over the news getting themselves in trouble looking for love.
