Keep rain, snow, and dust off them. Especially handy when you are belly crawling or laid down to shoot. I ran with just a harness for a long time and would typically wear it under my jacket. That worked too.

I have always felt like the 8x32’s work really well for still or tree stand hunting. Super light and compact. I have had two pairs of ZEISS in that size and really liked them.
Since most of the stuff I am glassing in those situations are under 200 yards I have stayed under $1,000. Never felt...
I recently was in the market for one as well. I have a buddy with the Badland and he really likes it. I had used the smaller Kuiu version in the past so ended up just going with the larger kuiu this time.
Just got back from a hunt with it. Worked well other than I wish it had a pocket on the...
Once it's time to shoot I am typically less worried about meat and more worried about actually hitting the thing!
Just had a similar dilemma, deciding between two guns, on an elk hunt. In the end, I asked myself if I had one shot for a million bucks which would I use? Ended up grabbing old...
That explains it quite well. Just check the weather the week before and that will help narrow things up. Most of the time it will be 20-50 degrees that time of year(I hunt there every November). Nothing worse than being cold so pack plenty!
I have all Kuiu and a cousin that runs all Sitka. If the price is the same I would lean towards Sitka for stand hunting. Like others have said, Kuiu is more of a light weight, layering design for mountain hunting. So hiking in with light gear and then adding a couple of layers for glassing...
28N to 300RUM - Gives you a little more room for error. 270s etc. have killed tons of elk but shot placement and range become increasingly more important.
I have never shot something and then said, "I wish I had used a smaller round".
