I have a SAKO 85 in 30-06 with a Leupold Vi 3. It weights about 7.5 and is the best shooting factory rifle I've ever owned. SAKO knows how to build great rifles.
My mountain rifles include: 270 in a Forbes 24 (predecessor to the Field Craft) , two Kimbers Classic select (270 and 300 Win) and a 30-06 in a SAKO finnlight. The SAKO is an amazing rifle.
My understanding the NULA is the parent design for the Forbes. The Forbes rifle company went out of business and the design was. purchased by Barrett. I own a Forbes M24 in 270. This Forbes is a great rifle and very accurate.
The Cameo range is one of the best in the country. Many pistol and rifle bays. Long-range steel. The sporting clays are a real challenge . A very safe range
I have the Forbes 24 (predecessor to the fieldcraft) in a 270. The Forbes has a Shaw barrel and I think the Fieldcraft has a Douglas barrel. It weighs 6.9 # with scope. Shoots 130,140 and 150 under an inch when I do my part. I've taken antelope, deer, and elk with this rifle and have had no issues.
I think Federal is the parent company to Alliant (RL) so simply ask Federal what is causing the RL shortage problem. I suspect that RL is being requested by Federal to manufacture powders for the Federal highest volume ammo. You have to remember that reloading components are a small fraction of...
I also own the T3x in 6.5 CM, a Kimber 84 select grade in 270, and a Forbes 24 ( the predecessor to the Fieldcraft in a 270. All shoot sub-MOA when I do my part. The Forbes weight is 6.8 lbs with scope, sling and a full mag. For me, I love the feeling of a wood stock rifle so this year my...
I have a model 85 "finnlight" and I agree the most accurate out of the box I have ever owned. My 85 is a 30-06 with a 22.5 inch barrel, and weight fully loaded (scope and full mag) 7.8 lbs. A pure joy to hunt with!
I'm working with Ramshot Hunter (similar to H4350 burn rate). Great velocity and group sizes for 140 gr ballistic tip and Accubonds. Also works well with 120 ballistic tips.
While I own several rifles 30/30, 6.5CM, 270, 30-06, and 300WM and have killed elk with all of them. My experience (31 elk to date) caliber does not mean dead elk. I am a hunter and take the responsibility of killing an elk seriously. What matters to me are a serious amount of practice (not on...
I own two Classic Selects, one is a 270 and the other 300WM. Both shoot great, the only problem is the guy pulling the trigger. Consistent groups under an inch
I can only comment on the SAKO 85 synthetic in a 30-06 which is the most accurate factory rifle I've ever owned. It weighs 7.11 fully loaded. The elk I have taken with it have gone down quickly.
SAKO 85 in 30-06, good for anything I hunt. Most accurate factory rifle I've ever owned. Shoots all loads well. I have had great luck with the 165 Hornady interbond.
My understanding was the military contract needed an all-hands-on deck, corporate push to make their contract commitment . The fieldcraft production needed to be temporary halted in order to make the contract commitment. I have no idea if the production vs costs BS are true. I highly doubt that...
