The 60 grain vmax are very effective on groundhog/rockchuck sized animals. North/South shots out of a 20" 1:9 twist 223 often have the results you would expect to see when shooting prairie dogs. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot coyotes with the vmax. With the better BC of the 60 TMK, seems worth trying.
I've been contemplating something like this, but built with sheet metal, situated over my existing fire pit.

They have sheaths for several hunting specific knives and can be configured for horizontal carry. I have one for a Benchmade Hidden Canyon and find it to be well made and very functional.
I did some research on replacing the rubber grip on the original Steep Country and it didn't appear to be a big deal if you are in possession of modest wood working skills.
If anyone had questions about 130 tmk, I can provide one data point: shot a mature mule deer at 100 yards, it traveled 15 yards and flopped. I clipped the end of the humorous, shattering the bone down the entire length and breaking the end of the scapula off. The Bullet continued on into the...
I have been using a snubby recon kit bag with a Leupold bino case (came with my binos) and an elastic magazine holder for my phone (runs map program) for 2-3 years. Works great for me. I clip my range finder on the side strap loop. The set up gets used for archery season, rifle season, and...
I'm not sure which is bigger, the box of gloves that I don't like or the box of holsters that didn't work out. I settled on a Raven Concealment Vanguard with soft loops for semiauto AIW and a self made kydex with Ulticlip for a J frame. The Vanguard was the best balance of compromises for me...
Looking for 6.5mm 130 grain Tipped Match King projectiles. Would be happy to purchase them outright, or I have .223 projectiles, in various styles/weights to trade.
I use the lid off a Dana Designs pack on my Pintler. It has straps sewn into it, so I put a mating fastex buckle on them to make an adjustable loop that goes around the top of the frame, captured below the load lifter straps that run the your shoulders. Then I secure it down with the Pintler...
I've been running a snubby recon the past 2 seasons with my Leupold 10x binocs on the front, staged in the case that came with them. This year I ran my phone in a BlueForceGear tenspeed mag pouch and hung my range finder off the loop that runs around your chest. The tenspeed pouch for my phone...
