165 gr pill from a 300 WSM

Anyone have a pet starting load for a 165 grain hand load? Would like to put my partitions on an elk.

I have n160, h4350, h4831, IMR 4350

Most 165 bullets are loads for a 308 and a lot of 300wsm are 180s.

Thought it’d be fun to shoot a flat one.

Is 300 WAM a new cartridge or did you mean 300 WSM? In 300 WSM, I shoot 165’s almost exclusively. Of your powders I’ve only used H4350.

W760 and H4350 work well for me. Hybrid H100V also worked well but haven’t bought any since the crazy started. Currently shooting 165 gr Hornady CX with H4350 in one rifle which worked nicely on a bear. My other rifle is a 14 lb target beast and it’s loving 168 (not quite 165) SMK’s over W760.

I haven’t had time to work up a load for the 165 accubonds I bought for mine. I’ve had good luck with H4350 and 180s like you mentioned above. Here’s the Hodgdon website data for H4350 and 165 partitions.
