Thought it might be cool to start a thread on who all is going to be hunting grizzlies or Brown bears this year. If you are, where are you going, when, and what will you be shooting (bow, rifle)?

I am headed to Alaska unit 9 the penninula in May. I will be the second hunter of the spring season, my guide has me getting into Illiamna a few days early as he anticipates the first hunter will tag out early and then I will head out as soon as he does, or his 10 days is up. I am taking my ol trusty 300 PRC with 200 grain Accubonds.

All yall out hunting them and here i am hoping i dont see one when im elk hunting. Haha!

I have a ticket and tag in my pocket just in case a brownie comes across me on my property or abroad. I loath skinning and transporting a bear just to turn in to ADFG on a DLP.

Well you know I will be. I hope I get to let you come in early after I get a big ol bruin! I hope to have our spot scoped out for you. I'll be carrying my 300 win mag. Maybe we can write up a combined report here on Rokslide after we are done. Good Luck!

Not this year, but booked with Mike Munsey Spring 2029 Kodiak. Taking a 338 Lapua Improved pushing either 250 partitions, 300 Accubond, 285 TSX, or 250 McGuire.

Rolling to Kodiak with my son April 20 for his bear tag. Then 10 brown bear clients may-June. Couple archery guys. Then taking friends out for freebie black bears to slow them down a bit. Western Alaska for a couple more brown bear/moose clients. Might try to spear a brownie for myself this spring…we’ll see how time goes.

I hope you do too! Derek seems pretty confident. And yea definitely need to do a write up afterwards.

Same reason I carry a tag as well. Also, I dont really want to have to defend my action of what I decided to do and when.

If anyone needs a free packer and or extra gun to watch your 6 over a carcass....... will adventure for free lol

Heading to Anchorage a month from today then down to Homer and across to the Peninsula. Going on 4 Brown bear hunts. Will be shooting an iphone at them. Hoping to get some good footage.

Not this year but have a spring hunt on Kodiak with Jake Fletcher in '27. Taking either a .338 Win mag or .340 Weatherby and will be using 250 grain bullets.

Hunted with Jake a couple years ago. Got a buddy going with him this spring. Jake's a good dude. Brought a 340 weatherby. We had a good time. Doing interior grizz in about 6 weeks.

I'll be taking some boys hunting. We target black bears but I let the more mature ones shoot grizzlies if the opportunity comes up. I probably won't target one myself unless it's huge... or I might try to join the cool guy club and get one with a 223.
So far a 308 with a suppressor has worked well as our main "bear gun." Obviously I'm backing them up with my rifle.
