Does anyone have experience shooting 230 grain bullets from a shorter barreled 30 Nos?
I'm looking at using a 23" barrel to run suppressed.
Main application is long range elk hunting with 225's or 230's, I like to keep my shots under 950 yards

I have not done it with 30 Nosler, but have with 300 win mags which is damn close. I would be loading the 215 Bergers. They will shoot around 2850 ~ 2875 with H-1000 and over 2900 with N570 in your 23". Suppressor will cost you a few FPS , but not a lot. The 230's will be 100 fps + slower

Thanks for the feedback, I'm done with the 215 Berger though..
Just had a failure on my bull, I'll make a separate post about it

I saw your post about them. Since you addressed me here I will offer my opinion. You are being way too hasty. We have taken 100's of elk with the 215 from 60 yards to over 1200. You need to use what you are comfortable with. But if judge just one instance, you may run out of bullet choices. Best of luck to you in the future, and good hunting.
