I've been on ADG's list for a long time and never received an email that 300wsm brass is available. I went the route of buying quality box ammo and planning on using the fired brass for reloads. Albeit even ammo is hard to find and freaking expensive for the 300WSM.

Keep an eye out at Creedmor Sports, Grafs, snd all the other regulars. There is a store with website out of Florida I bought some 300 wsm brass from too - can’t remember the name at the moment. I emailed ADG directly and they told me when the next run would be and to where it would be shipped.

…otherwise, 300 WM. I’d assume you would be disappointed going from 300 wsm down to 30-06 or 308.

Can you tell me a little more about the performance on game of the 178 ELD-X?

I have a 300 wsm and I have a bunch of relevant powder, bullets, and primers. Brass is a problem. I'm tired of searching high and low for brass. Even if I find some, the next time will be the same thing. So I'm thinking to hell with it, I'll get a new elk rifle. I want a short 20-22" barrel because I'm getting a suppressor. I'm not really into .308s. What would you recommend as a replacement, that is a little easier to get components for?
Did you ever make a decision? Since you don't like 308s then why not a 22" barreled .30-06? Since you reload there are some powders that will provide impressive performance from a 22" inch tube and ammo / components are common as dirt.

I know you said you don't like the 308 but my little custom .308 with a 20" tube will drive 168g Barnes TTSX behind a stiff charge of CFE-223 nearly 2700 fps with 1.5" groups at 300y. I've only shot one elk with it but it broke both shoulders and dropped a mature 6x6 at 294y. bam flop.

30-06 pushes a 165 grain Accubond about the same fps as the 300wsm pushes a 180 Accubond. Works pretty well. Easy to find 30-06 components and factory Accubond ammo is considerably less expensive than the same bullet loaded in the magnums.
