Anyone considering or have a 7 PRCW (7-6.5 PRC) for a hunting rig? Had always had my mind set on the standard 7 PRC with a short barrel (to shoot suppressed), but after seeing how easy the 7 PRCW is to tune and the results people are having - is it worth the velocity sacrifice over the 7 PRC? Anyone have a shorter barrel 7 PRCW? I am guessing a 22" tube would see around 2750 FPS...

I’m interested in this as well. I debated on a 284w but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I fell like it would be a nice spot for a 160ab 162 eldx etc. anxious to hear others thoughts.

Neat cartridge but I'm not sold on benefits over 284W or 7 SAUM in a hunting rifle. SAUM would be less of a velocity sacrifice.

I don't see any reason to use one for it's "tunability", or ease of shooting in relation to hunting. The most hotrod magnum cartridges can punch tiny groups and have great ES, low enough for shooting beyond 1200 yards. So it's just really not necessary for a hunting cartridge to have a possible 5% better consistency, that you will likely never even see in a hunting weight rifle in field condition. Just do a 7 PRC and get some extra velocity, especially if you're going short and suppressed.

Just 3 days ago I shot a .3 5 shot group with a 28 Nosler and 180 ELDM's at 3070 FPS with an ES of 12.

I have one with a 26” barrel. I like it. I wouldn’t pick one for ease of tuning. I don’t know there is such a thing.

I’ve used mine with 143 Hammers and 180 VLDs. It’s just another 7mm magnum in a short action.
