I am going to be in the Albuquerque area in a couple weeks. I am training for a marathon and am trying to map out a run, 10-15 miles. Is anyone familiar with the area that could suggest some routes, trails, or areas to avoid? I will be staying north of I 40 & east of I 25. I would like to put at least a few miles in on trail, elevation gain into the mountains would be great too.

^^^^This.

Foothills are good for running, and mountain biking. Plenty of trails. Head towards the mountain/wilderness for significant elevation change.

Some popular trails are pino trail and La luz trail.

We do Pino on most weekends. 8-9 miles up to the tram, beer and burger at the top and ride the tram down. The top is about 10300 FT.

Or we go to the intersection of Pino and the crest trail and come down. about 8-10 miles round trip. I stopped keeping track exactly.

If you want flat running option. Head towards the river and run the bosque trail. basically runs along the river and ditches the length of the city.
