Assistance identifying this fungus

Was fishing today when I came across this large fungus right by the stream. While I was not tempted to eat it, I am curious if anyone can assist in the identification...

I Google imaged Coral Mushrooms and came up with a lot of things very similar to what you posted. maybe in those you can find more that are more cloce to what you have to help... theres literally millions of different types of fungus that are all similar in some way or another.

I was going to say some type of a coral mushroom also. I believe some are edible and some aren't, like with most mushrooms. I have heard none of them are very tasty though.
