Athlon Ares 15-45 spotter gen 2?

Any one with thoughts/experience with the newish ( think they came out this year but just saw them now) Ares gen 2 spotters?

Looks like the gen 2 updates are:
~8oz heavier
2.5" longer
detachable eye piece
additional MIL ranging eye piece available.

No real good reviews anywhere I can find. And no descriptions on if the glass is upgraded at all.

For me there isn't anything I'm seeing this scope do better then my gen 1 for what I use it for.

Thoughts?

You are correct. They changed the body to accept removable eyepieces. Added a bit of length/weight in the process. Mounting plate is a bit different. Exterior spruced up a bit. Glass got a new name (ED is now UHD) but is physically unchanged.

No experience with the gen 2, but I read somewhere (I think Athlon's site?) that the glass is the same.

The newer one looks cool, but I'll stick with my gen 1.

I bought the new one, it’s a nice spotter with good glass for the price point.
