Backup Rifles?

Always.
I have 1 longer heavier rifle if I'm anticipating a longer poke, plus a light, nimble thumper for the timber. Although they excel in their own areas, either will suffice as a substitute for the other in a pinch.
I always figure that if I'm taking my truck & using it as base camp, why not use every little bit of space it allows.

I do. My annual moose hunting trip to Northern BC is a 12-15 hour drive truck/wall tent base hunt. My gun case holds two rifles so why not. Never had to use the back up but a broken scope, ring, stock, quad spill, etc... would suck with only one rifle in camp.

My primary is a Tikka 7mm-08 that shoots 150 eldx very well.

My backup is a Superlite Tikka that shoots the same load very well.

One is none and two is one.
