Cleaning brain matter for skull transport

Wondering how people prep skulls for transport across state lines/to final destination where transportation of brain material is illegal? Hoping to do a euro mount for any elk/mule deer I shoot out west, but skulls can’t contain any brain matter in order for me to bring them home to Minnesota.

Short of having to boil the skull… is there any way to clean out all the brain matter for transport?

I’d like to see some suggestions as well… I just got back from a UT mule deer hunt and was able to pay someone to do a euro for me. Dropped it off early afternoon and picked it up the next morning. Weight saving for the checked in bag as well. I would have just risked transporting brain matter if I didn’t find someone.

Ive used a metal wire tube brush attached to a cordless drill. Stick it in the whole and let it rip, pour out the contents, add some water and repeat. If you take a saw (I've used a sawzall) and cut a portion of the back of the skull off it opens the hole up bigger and makes it a little easier.

Ive used the scrambler from raptor razor on a couple deer and it’s done a good job. Basically liquifies the brain and then I just rinse it With hot water. There’s some YouTube videos on it. Pretty cheap and quick solution

I used a copper tubing that I attached to a female hose end. Screwed in onto a spray nozzle then the tubing goes into the brain cavity. Give it a shot of water and out pops the whole brain. I did hundreds of euro’s this way when I had my taxidermy shop.

I'd be interested in seeing a picture of this attachment

Exactly. Works perfect every time. Just beware or where stuff squirts. It’s easy to get sprayed/splashed in the face.

Can go to hardwares store and take copper tubing and get it to connect to garden hose fittings. A small ball valve or the sprayer nozzle both work to turn it on and off.

Some of the other suggestions of giving the bream a scramble and washing out work in a pinch.

Taking the brain out is definitely an afterthought on many doing DIY euros. That is a huge reason you get son much oil and grease saturated into the bone and it won’t whiten.

It works so well that I’ve never had it spray anything in my face. The end of the tubing goes all the way into the skull and hit the handle on the nozzle and the brain pops right out. I would always lay the skull on the floor and step back just in case though! 🤣

I’d like to see a picture of which whole you put the copper tube in and which whole the brain pops out.

Copper tube goes into the back of the brain cavity. Brain pops out the same hole. The water pressure pushes it right out. I don’t do any taxidermy work anymore so I don’t have any fresh skulls to take pictures of. I can probably show it with an old euro laying around or maybe with a beef skull. We are done slaughtering for the week and aren’t doing any slaughter over Thanksgiving. I will see about doing one after Thanksgiving.

I found an old abandoned European to show a little bit about how this tool works.
