So I'm just going to say I am new to this whole forum thing. I am from the east coast and primarily have hunted white tail my whole life and a me and a few buddies of mine decided to give hunting out west a try and decided to try and elk hunt Colorado. we applied and "drew" units 80 and 81. I've done some research and have read nothing but the fact it is extremely pressured. we can harvest a cow or a bull. we are not looking for monsters or bulls unparticular. we just want to go and try to harvest any legal elk. we would be happy just to lay our eyes on one. Does anyone have any advice or tips on that area ? I was looking at the san Juan wilderness but just don't know where to start. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here’s some good advice. We stop in to the local wildlife office and act very courteous. Tell them humbly that you would be most appreciative if they could steer you to a few spots in the area.
