DIY Freeze dries meals.

my guess this topic has been beat to death buuuuuut has anyone done DIY freeze dried meals with pre freeze dried components? I see you can buy premade beef, chicken, cheese etc. The only thing is I’m a picky eater (I’ve already been lectured by mom 1000 times). Also, has anyone ever opened up a store bought meal and taken some ingredients outs? Example, mushrooms in Stroganoff.

you can freeze dry individual ingredients and add to make a meal or make a meal and freeze dry it already mixed together. im waiting for my new home shelving unit for my freeze dryer to get here so i can make freeze dried meals. right now im just experimenting with candy. my goal is to have a ton of snacks 100+ calories per ounce. which wont be hard when freeze dried. ill keep updated my thread as i make more stuff. Next on the list when i get new shelves is going to be wild pig chili. gonna pick up about 200-300lbs of fresh wild pig meat in a week or 2 and then the kitchen adventures begin.
