Down vs Synthetic quilt

I’m looking into getting a quilt for next season, does anyone want to weigh in on down vs synthetic for a quilt? Is the down worth the extra cost to save a few ounces? Does the synthetic not compress enough to make it worth it? I like the idea of not having to worry about getting it wet or having wet clothes, but would love to hear your experience and preference between the two.

I have a synthetic Enigma currently and will be replacing it with down. I’ll save 10-12 ounces and some pack space. The bulk is main driver for me. I’ve read, and I’m not saying I know this to be fact, that synthetic insulation breaks down faster than down insulation and doesn’t like all the compressing/uncompressing action (or at least doesn’t handle it as well as down).

down is lighter, compresses more and will outlast synthetic

synthetic fairs better in wetter environs and is usually cheaper

I own and use both; the colder the expected temps, the more likely it's going to be down chosen
