I thought caribou hunting was supposed to be easy? I spent the better part of 4 weekends and 10 days trying to connect before finally putting one down the last afternoon of the season. Had some ups and downs with a lot of fun time spent in the mountains and swamps. Saw some giant bulls, but couldn't get them to hang out in the same spot long enough to intercept.

Had a bull literally shot out from under me. That was a first... just setting up for the shot when, BANG, BANG. Was happy for the hunter, just crazy timing.

Blew a stalk on a bull about the size of the one I killed, screwed around trying to get closer and closer, and he busted me and ran off. Should have been patient.

Took the family a couple weekends and everyone had a fun time. Can't wait for the little guy to get a bit bigger so he can go on some serious off road adventures.

Spotted this bull along with a HOG way off the road in a swamp... I figured it was now or never and made a last ditch effort to fill my tag. 3 miles from the truck, about half of it in ankle deep water. When I finally got to where I'd last seen them, I spotted the big boy walking the other direction about 3/4 of a mile off, and the other bull standing in front of me about 300 yards. I figured I'd come this far I'm not back empty. Snuck in close and popped him with the 325wsm. A 7 hr round trip, x2 and memories to last a lifetime. Just the dog and me the last couple days. Her first time around gun fire, and dead animals. She was a bit unsure about the big critter on the ground, until she realized it was made of meat...

She will probably sleep for the next week. Love this place...

My dog always approaches from the rear first. She'll stay clear of the head until properly inspected. I always have to tie her up or she will start eating stuff and licking up blood pools. Good times.

Sounds like some great adventures with the family and dogs. Great choice of gun caliber.
