Last year I rebarrelled my Traditions Hawken with a CVA barrel in 54cal. It was pretty much straight cut, no crown what so ever. I ended up lightly coning it to make loading a patched ball easier.
A few days ago I was over at a friends having him measure the rifle out for a new buffalo case and mentioned the lack of crown.
He says, I got a fix for that! He pulled out a countsink chamfer cutter and about 15 seconds later, he cut a beautiful crown! I made sure to take a dozen shots at 60 yards and the rifle shots perfect as usual.
