First elk

Figured I’d share since it was a great trip to north west Colorado for second rifle season. First elk I’ve taken and hopefully not the last.

Congrats- doesn't matter to me whether it is my 1st or 7th, they are all huge adrenaline rushes.

I'm still desperately missing the wilderness after shooting my first bull in Sep. On any other year I'd have 80-100 hours or more in stands, blinds, on the ground chasing whitetails with a bow, but this year I didn't even buy a tag. I'm sure taking my daughters out late season will renew my interest, but for now, I am 100% fulfilled with big game hunting and wanting more time out West.

508 yards, never took a step after it was hit.

I was lucky that there were horses available for the pack out. It would have been a hike without them.
