First Suppressor....going 6.5 a dumb idea?

My suppressor Fund about topped off and ready for action. Quite confident I am going TBAC Ultra 7. My question is.....is going 6.5 right out of the gate stupid? My only threaded rifles can ready are both Creeds. And I am building a 6 Creed as well. Lastly my 223 AI needs set back so I might as well have it threaded.

Will there be a noticeably more effecting reduction sticking to a closer tolerance can vs running a .300 can on everything?

Or am I overthinking it and just get a 30 cal can and call it good for all rifles centerfire?

If you truly have no interest in shooting bigger than 6.5 then do it, it will work better even if not “noticeably” to your ears

I do have interest in 300 Win Mag when Bergara comes out in HMR Lefty. So yes. there is 300 in the future. My other go to rifles are 7 Rem Mag

I went 30 cal on my ultra 7, but as someone posted above, if you don’t have any 7mm-300’s and you don’t plan on ever having one, then going 6.5 may not be a terrible idea. It all depends on what you want to do.

I have 6.5’s and 30’s so I needed the 30, you may not...

I run a omega 300 on my 6.5 cm replaced the end cap with a 556 cap with no mods the 556 cap is big enough for a 6.5 to easily pass through and scrub gas effectively

I did the same. But.....I cant tell ANY difference in sound with the small cap. Either firing it, or listening to it from 200 yards. So save your money and forget buying the ends. Not worth it IMO....

I agree. I can’t tell the difference either but it made me feel better. If I did it again I’d just shoot 30 and not spend the extra $

I own a .308 9" suppressor and love it on everything 300 WM and less . Also have a TBAC 338 Ultra awaiting approval. Don't hamstring yourself with a 6.5 can , get a 30 and enjoy it on all of the most popular rounds . While you're at it , get a 22 LR suppressor, it never gets old .

I would go the 30 route. You're going to end up with multiples anyways... They seem to have a way of reproducing once you get started.

I used to shoot 6.5 out of my .46 cal Hybrid. It worked great. Go with the versatility of .30 cal, you won't know the sound difference between the two. just picked up an omega, without the break (flat cap) its only 6in long and weighs 14oz. I love the thing!

like everybody else said, get a 30 you won't be able to tell the diff and you'll wish you would have got 30 later if you dont.

Another vote for the .30 cal can. Especially considering the cost and the hassle with getting another one, you'll want to get as much use as possible out of this first one. I've used my SilencerCo Harvester on everything from my .300 win mags down to my .223ai trainer and frankly doubt i'd notice the difference if it were matched to each caliber.

I'd go 30 especially since it's going to take damn near a year for you to put your hands on it , or at least attach it you your barrel. Love the wait time, lot can happen in a year, versatility might be your friend

One .30 omega on:

Two 300 win mags (Havak & Sendero);
7.62 FN PBR;
7.62 LMT MWS;
5.56 AR Short barrel rifle.

It’s irrational to down-size when the bigger can covers it all with a very very very small weight difference. Some even claim the 5.56 sounds better with the higher volume can.

Another vote for going .30 cal. The flexibility to shoot anything .30 and below outweighs the little weight and sound reduction especially for your first can.

I shoot more .223 through my .30 can than my .223 can.
