You only need to be concerned if it's 'concealed carry'. 'Open/Visible' carry is no problem and legal about anytime.

PENAL CODE
SECTION 25400

25400. (a) A person is guilty of carrying a concealed firearm when
the person does any of the following:

25640. Section 25400 does not apply to, or affect, licensed hunters
or fishermen carrying pistols, revolvers, or other firearms capable
of being concealed upon the person while engaged in hunting or
fishing, or transporting those firearms unloaded when going to or
returning from the hunting or fishing expedition.

Obviously there is a fair amount of lawyer speak missing, but the point is if California allows for an exemption for legal hunting and carrying concealed, I would believe that a reasonable state would allow it. As stated above I would definitely check on it with the local authorities.

I wouldn't concel it hunting. I talked to the sherif office, they gave the OK. Never hurts to be sure. Thanks for the responses and good luck this season.
