A buddy and I are helping our other friend with his elk tag that he drew this year. We’ve killed elk but never had to field judge anything. Season opens Tuesday and we found this bull today. Our guess is 315ish

320 or so. Good beams and tops, weakish fronts and mass

I'd agree. For a "newbie" you've done pretty good. I'm thinking 310-320" myself.

I see a lot of bulls and wiukd be surprised if it broke 300, but i could be wrong. My guess is 285-290. He's definitely not a 320 as some have guessed.

That bull is over 300" - looks like many should handle more big elk racks

I live where our community manages a herd with numerous 370-400 taken each season with 300” bulls all over. I mountain bike a few times a week and see them all the time. I have also seen the larger bulls in person that have been taken. I don’t think lack of exposure is why I think it is under. Hopefully they get it and we can find out.

Not a big score guy but I did kill a couple bulls last season in that realm (316 and guessing 300ish). Id guess low 300's as well based on good beam length, tops and somewhat weak bottoms.

Thanks for everyone that responded! Was a learning experience for us. Didn’t find that bull opening morning. We ended up calling in/sneaking up on a nice bull. Buddy chose character over points with this super heavy palmated 7x7. He was a 7x8 but one small time had broken off.
