Going to have about a week to kill in between two tags this year, approximately 22-29AUG timeframe. If you had the area between Denver and Gunnison around then and interested in doing some fly fishing, hiking and maybe finding a brewery or two... what can't miss areas come to mind? Thanks in advance for any input!

Buena Vista/Salida nice area in-between those two places. Lots of places to fish in the ark and hiking, especially if you want to do a 14er(take your altitude acclimation into account if you do).
If you're hanging around Denver and have some cash to burn, Buckhorn Exchange is cool to see the taxidermy (quality of the food has gone down a little over the years), or the Fort in Morrison( (just a cool spot and interesting menu).
As far as breweries, we have one on literally every street corner on the front range and could probably do brew tour and they will take you accouple of them, Gunnison is going to be more Sparse.

Another vote for Buena Vista. Stay night or two in surf hotel. Good coffe shops and food around..old school drive in theater..st elmo and lots of great hiking in the collegiate peaks. Got a friend that is building a house right in front of the white cliffs...awesome area. Plus lots of bighorn in the area...
