Looking for short light hunting suppressor

I have a 26 inch barreled 7 PRC with an 8 inch can that proved to be too long for practical hunting. The balance of this rifle makes it want to ride barrel down when using the sling. In a hunting blind it is very tough to move from one window to another. I ordered a new 7 PRC in a 22 inch barrel and am looking for a 6 inch or shorter suppressor. Light is better and I assume I will go with titanium. The 8 inch can I have is a DD Enticer L Ti and I have no complaints with it. They do offer a shorter and lighter S Ti model that I am leaning toward. Thanks for any advice.

Personally, in your situation, I would get your barrel cut to 20” and use a Reaper, AB Raptor 8, or Nomad Ti XC. But there are many other options. I really like my AB Raptor 8 with 3” reflex. The Reaper seems to me to be the best 6” muzzle forward can on the market, but the Nomad Ti XC is very well-regarded and has many proponents. The TBAC UL 7 is another good choice.

If I were you, I would also look into the Airlock 7 and see if it meets your needs. It wasn’t out when I last edited the spreadsheet. They are currently listed as out of stock, but check out the review thread here and the stats on it to see if it’s worth waiting for. I don’t own an Airlock can, but they seem very promising.

Don’t get a Scythe. At the current reported failure rate, they are worse than the Sig P320 or Ford Pinto. There is a long thread on this topic here on Rokslide.

If I were duplicating a rifle I already had in order to be more “handy”, Id be looking at chopping that sucker down to 16-18”. It’s not like you need the velocity stand hunting.

Thanks for all of the responses!! There do seem to be a lot of good products. I like the idea of cutting one of the 7 PRCs down but these rifles have the spiral fluted barrels and I'm not sure that it can be cut down. The rifles shoot too well for me to want to replace a barrel already although I am considering making one of them a varmint caliber. Q_Sertorius, thank you for the spreadsheets!!

If I were you I’d be looking at one of the ~6” 3d printed silencers out there like the nomad ti xc or the reaper. The reaper seems really good, the ti xc is also really good, those 2 seem fairly similar enough that you couldn’t really go wrong with either.

A good gunsmith can absolutely cut a fluted barrel and set it up for 5/8x24, that’s the route I’d go, I’ve done it with no issues.

The recommendation for the TBAC ultra 7 is also a good one, I love mine. I wish I’d just gotten another one instead of falling for the scythe hype.

No need to cut it down. Get an Abel Theorem-S with the brake or flat cap. Sub 6” and a little over 8 ounces. Did multiple rifle testing between me and shooting buddies and with the Theorem S braked, it was more recoil reduction on my 7 PRC than Magnus S-RR, although slightly louder.

I also have the Nomad Ti XC but I’d really like to try it with a RecoilX brake.

TBAC doesn’t make the Dominus any more so I’d go with the 7” Magnus, or the Ultra 7 Gen 2 like @Q_Sertorius mentioned.

I also have the Nomad Ti XC but I’d really like to try it with a RecoilX brake.

I can concur the Theorem with brake cap combo is extremely affective at recoil mitigation. However it's most definitely not hearing safe. It's very loud. TBAC summit metered it at 146 dba at shooters ear. The Theorem L w/ brake was much quieter at 132 dba. 308 win testing. Move to 300wm and the TheoremS brake combo was at 150dba.

Another plug for the zero gravity. It really is phenomenal. I’ll buy another one as soon as a 30 cal is available. I too run the Enticer L Ti a lot and it’s a great can. It’s the only can in my stable that is quieter than my zero gravity but at a size and weight cost and I don’t like taping up the end cap due to the shape.

I have the SRS directional brake to install on my nomad ti XC. Going to compare it head to head with my standard theorem wirh brake cape on my 7saum. They're both 7" cans, same diameter. I think the Theorem will have less recoil by a bit, but the Nomad will sound better.
