I bought an Optima V2 NW a year ago, shot it enough to sight in with no problems other than extremely light hair trigger (like sub half pound, not the same as 2 other optimas I've tried). I just decided I would never cock it until the sights were on target and that way the trigger wouldn't be a problem. Went hunting, saw no Elk. Cleaned it and stored it away.
Now one year later I'm having more issues. If I gently break the trigger, it doesn't fire. If I slap the trigger, it shoots no problem. I can load it, and as long as I gently squeeze the trigger I can click-recock-click-recock endlessly and it won't go off. Then, without changing anything, if I recock and then slap the trigger hard I get KABOOM.
I tried replacing the firing pin, spring and bushing, and no change.
I'm not familiar with the trigger/sear/hammer arrangement, but I think something must be dragging on the hammer when the trigger isn't pulled way back.
Anyone have any thoughts?
I guess I'll plan on slapping the trigger and hoping...
