I've taken a few Antelope and many elk. I used a 270win, 308win, and a 30-06. Antelope are relatively easy, not always true with elk. Use enough gun if elk are on your list.

I’ve seen them shot with .257 weatherby, 7 rem mag, 6.5 creedmore , 28 nosler and 30-378 weatherby. It doesn’t really matter. Shot them in the lungs and they die within 50 yards and you don’t lose much meat.

I’ve been around elk shot with several calibers 7mag and above. Just take your pick and shoot them in the lungs.

Most things in the .284/.30 caliber range can easily pull double duty

although most of mine have fallen to one of my .270s , the last one I killed was with a 6.5 CM/ 127 LRX and I liked how that worked as well.
