Looking at 7mm-08 load data with Ramshot Big Game and 120-140gr pills. Please give advice and your experiences with magnum vs standard large rifle primers and how that affects charge min and max loads. Any specific load recommendations welcomed. 24” barrel

I doubt you would need the mag primers. I shoot 47.5 grains with the 140 TTSX @2960 fps from a 22' barrel. I have a very small ES and 1" accuracy at 200 yards.

I was rather shocked at the speed after I ran it through the chrony.

Ive gotten to 47.5 gr with 140 NBTs and the bolt is just starting to get sticky, not on every shot, but every 3 or so.... so I'm going to stop there for now. I do have a suppressor mounted so that is adding some pressure. If I go on a hunt where the suppressor is staying home, perhaps I will increase the charge and see how much farther I can push it. Looking fwd to running this load through a chrono

Went out today with 5 each from 44.5 to 47.5 gr BG with 140 ABs using CCI mag primers. The only groups that were MOA or less were 45 and 45.5 gr but both under 2700 fps. 2.820 coal(mag length)out of a Tikka Superlite. Not super happy with those velocities where the accuracy is. Is it worth trying regular lrp primers with same load ladder and see or just go to another powder? Maybe seat deeper closer to SAAMI? Thanks

Staball 6.5 also gives impressive velocity in the 7mm-08

Here’s the results from today. Not my best shooting I usually shoot the factory loads better. Let me know your thoughts on these, shot 5 rds 140 AB 47.5 gr BG 2.805” coal with mag primers, another 5 same load with regular large rifle primers. Then shot 10-12 factory Hornady Precision Hunter 150 ELDX:

No chrono today was using someone else’s the other day.

Im not sure what to do at this point, I’m thinking about going with the 47.5 BG load with the 140 Accubonds and lrp primers but still not sure what to do with those groups. I’ve checked and rechecked my scope mount and rings. The other day the 45 and 45.5 gr loads were touching so something else is amiss.

Always pick the most accurate load.
