Roughly, What would a rem 721 in a 270 be worth? I have one that has sat in the safe for quite a while, haven’t shot it in years and have no use for it. Thinking about letting it go to fund another project

Does anyone build off of a rem 721 action?

It’s essentially a 700 - a 700 bolt will function, but the handle angle is a little different. A 700 stock will work if you also use the 700 floorplate and grind away a little so the safety has clearance. A 700 trigger can be used, but clearance on the side of the action needs to be filed away so it’s like a model 700.

These are worth about what an old 700 sells for. I would buy it quickly at $250, at $300 it will sell in a few weeks, $400 and it will sell, but may take a few months. It would have to be nearly new to ever get $500.

In most cases you’re better off trading straight across for a 700 and building a rifle from there. I kind of like that it’s a little different.

I built on a 722 action and most of these issues I ran into. I’m actually about to have the side relief cut for the trigger as the last piece to this puzzle. Overall I wish I woulda just started with a 700 but I’m still happy with how it’s turning out.

I agree with Taperpin, $400 in that condition is about right. He has also listed the "issues" with that action.

If you build on it, the cost to use it will be comparable to having a factory R700 trued. They are good actions, and make nice custom rifles.

Thanks guys! What I was kind of figuring after doing lots of googling. Might just list it for about 4 and see what happens.
