I have a review in the works. Wanted to have a thread to discuss the Eolus with Nest. From looking over Rokslide posts, there appears to be a lot of people running this set up. Please chime in with your experiences!

I recently hunted “The Unlimiteds” for rams here in Montana. I took the Eolus and Nest even though it was later in the season (Sept. 14th - 18th) Eolus worked great and I learned a lot about the set up.

I also used it this summer even though Montana’s fire season cancelled most of my trips. I even learned how NOT to set it up. I should have read a review or watched a video first.

Here’s a pic with the nest. This was for me and two young boys.

We used it on a multi family float trip. You can see it here on the far left.

These two 8th graders plus me and our sleeping bags for one night. We fit, but we didn’t fit very well. It was a little too tight to be comfortable.

Awesome photos and looking forward to the full review. I've been eyeing the eolus pretty heavily.

What are you wanting/planning to use it for?

Mostly solo backcountry or backcountry hunting and fishing with my brother. Currently rocking a duplex but wanting something a little less fussy. My wife refuses to go floorless. haha This would be nice for us on scouting missions as well I am thinking.

Just got an eolus and have it out a few nights with and without the nest.

Love mine. No nest but run it with a Borah Bivy...tons of room for one and gear. Had a tree branch poke a hole in it during archery season, so will be headed back to SO for repair. Great shelter for lightweight, three season use.

I use all the guy outs
Eolus.jpg

Sheep hunting in the alpine I need as much wind protection as possible. More guy outs and rock walls help

I've been looking at this setup. I'm thinking of using it from spring turkey hunts, to summer scouting/fishing, to fall deer camp. All in Minnesota but hopefully it west at some point too.

I'm still a FNG to both camping and hunting so I want a shelter I can grow into, so to speak.

For you guys with photos of the Eolus in the snow, what are you using for your sleep system?

I was using a typical 20° bag. I slept in my BlackOvis Anchor Point down pants and Canis Alps Hooded Down Jacket.

Without the down layers, the colder nights it would have been rough.

The Nalgene didn’t freeze solid, but the water was icing up as you can see. That was inside the tent with the edges tight the ground (minimal airflow)

I liked everything about the eolus except that you basically have to crawl on the ground to get in and out. Which I’m obviously too old for😩

From the pics it looks like you could stand to move your stakes in toward the door by taking the slack up at the top of the pole pockets. That will give you better tension on the doors and on the central ridgeline.

Ok, so moving the vestibule stakes closer to the tent changes the angle and tightens the ridge line between the hiking poles?
That’s awesome. Thanks.
The sag in the ridge one was grinding on my nerves a bit. That’s good info for the review
