i got the ranch version with the 16” barrel, very lightweight, I’m planning to put a lightweight fixed power scope on it, should be great for carrying while hiking up and down the mountains of Nevada where I hunt.
It is still better than the old rough finish that said - "I have no pride in my rifles."
I kept trying to buy an American (I like Ruger as a company) because I knew it would shoot accurately. I kept walking away b/c it would have cost to much to upgrade it to what I would want. Essentially, I felt they were offering a base model Honda Accord and the EX version.
If the new stock is not a complete POS, I think Ruger just changed the rifle market again. The Gen 2 version has a compelling feature set.
My only concerns:
1) is the stock stiff enough?
2) will the magazine feed properly and/or will it rattle.
Don't know if its been posted. But Ruger has updated the ol' American rifle. Looks fancy, hopefully shoots as good as the old ones. I know they get a lot of hate, but I have 4 of them in various calibers and man if they aren't accurate as hell. All of mine shoot sub-MOA easily, usually half...
