I'm lost, need two new scopes for deer hunting in SE. From Swamp to Beanfields.

5.75 lb, Single Shot, .44 Rem Mag
50' - 200" Typical - 150 yards max
Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 Heavy Plex
Mostly use 2-4 power.
LPVO - Budget $300
No clue

6.75 lb Bolt, .308 Win
150 - 325 yd typical, 600 yd max
Weaver V24 6-24 Varminter (Japan)
0.256 - .064 MOA Crosshair
0.640 - 0.160 MOA Dot
Mostly use 6-10 power.
2-10 to - Budget $500
Been looking at Meopta Optika5.

Priority #1 - Is reliability.
Priority #2 - is better glass.

The Weaver has better glass than the Nikon for those unfamiliar.

I know FFP is the rage these days but I worry about crosshairs that disappear at low settings and are to coarse at higher.

I've never looked through the Meopta scopes but can't imagine it wouldn't be great. Love their other optics.

But I will say I'm with you on the FFP. I bought a very nice FFP scope and hated it. I can see the benefits but it wasn't for me. Maybe it's just using what we are used to, but I got it off there quick.
