Short scope

I am looking for a shorter scope. I would at least want the power to go to a 7 and be a 30 or 40 for area. It is going on a shorter gun. Need one for a CVA Cascade SB 308 and a Winchester Wildcat 22lr. Please keep it at or under $500. I usually mount a Vortex crossfire 3x9x40 or a Burris Droptine. So I am usually spending $150-$200. Anything that yall have tried out or have heard is a good one please let me know. Thanks!
