So I was shooting my savage ultralite today, and I put my bipod on for a couple shots. First shot was normal, then when I took my second shot the bipod fell off the rifle. It sheared the first 1/8” of threads off the swivel stud. So the part of the stud that’s deepest in the stock. I’m pretty sure the threads are still stuck in the hole because I can see some shiny metal.
I tried to screw another one in but since the old threads are still in the hole, it won’t bite.
Any ideas of what to do?
I’m going to contact savage tomorrow to see what I should do. I don’t want to have to send it in because I’ll be hunting first rifle in Colorado for elk and I doubt I’ll have it back by then.
