Through the incredible generosity of my parents, I have been gifted a set of Swarovski 10x42 EL binoculars. They got them through my cousin, who bought them from someone upgrading to a newer pair. They had a scratched lens, and other signs of use, so my cousin had them completely refurbished by Swarovski. Aside from wear of the numbers on the focus knob, they look almost new. Can't explain how grateful I am to be gifted these. Optically, they appear to be multiple steps above my 25 year old Minox. The Minox were good glass, but I certainly used and abused them over the years. It was time for a new set.
My Dad had the binoculars registration transfered to me, with Swarovski, so I decided to ask Swarovksi which version they were. Turns out they were made in 2002, so no HD and no Swarovision. I've only briefly looked through them from the house at this point. They seem fantastic. I have no intention of selling, but am curious what the difference might be between these and the newer versions.
Be interested to hear the differences, significant or not, between the 2002 set and the newer versions with HD and Swarovision.
