The 1000th Colorado GMU thread

I realize there have been numerous Colorado GMU threads before so, I apologize first. Three friends and I are heading to Colorado this September. We are looking at GMU 43. I was there in 1987 and again on a recreational back-pack trip in 1990. Several questiions come to mind.

How are the crowds in this area. We don't need complete solitude but its a long trip for us, we will get back there 5-6 miles no problem (farther if necessary). We are in decent shape and will train hard. Plus, we understand how much physically it will take. Gear wise--all good, we're experienced back country guys. Not looking for any red x's on topo maps just general advise. This is the first back-pack hunt for all of us and we just want to have a reasonable chance so, any info is much appreciated.

I can tell you that it isn't in my top 5 of OTC units when I grab a tag. I love the look of the area but I've had some good encounters in other areas and generally focus my attention there for OTC.
