Tikka Sportsmatch SWFA question

I’m in the process of mounting a 6x swfa on my tikka with the sportsmatch rings and I ran into a couple things I’m wondering about.

1) The front ring ever so slightly intrudes on the ejection port, doesn’t seem to get in the way of ejection, but am I missing something here. Pic below

2) Ejected brass is hitting the windage turret, it doesn’t fall back in the action though. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and/or do I not need to worry about it.

Thanks

#2 is a common problem with the long turrets. I'd just carry on if they clear the chamber

I would move the front ring forward as far as possible. Looks like you have some room to move on the scope tube.

As noted, the second issue is a common one for Tikka and Sako, among a couple of others. If you poke around there are a few options and thoughts on what to do. Most don't do anything as long as it still ejects. It doesn't hurt anything.

I wouldn't worry about #1. If that's where the ring sits with the recoil/arrestor pin installed, then that's where most other people are mounting them without issue.

On my AR15 I installed some "rubber stickers" they used to sell for the brass hitting the lower receiver. If the ejection is marring the finish on the scope turrets or dinging the brass you could try something like that. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't worry about #1 at all as that is how the rings are designed and on #2 some guys have had the windage turret machined down to reduce contact during ejection. You should be able to find some threads on Rokslide about that through the search function.

If you're using the recoil pin on the front ring, then it will protrude back a bit. Non-issue.

Depending upon the cartridge, you could skip that pin and move the ring forward.

Thanks guys, I kind of figured these weren’t really issues to be overly concerned with, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. I’m sure I could probably get away without the recoil pin in a 6.5 creed, but I’d rather have it as long as the location of the ring isn’t an issue.
