Long Shot.

I have a 21” 6.5 CM Fieldcraft that I love for my sheep rifle. Would like to trade it for the threaded 18” model. Prefer barreled action only trade as my gun has been with me in the Unlimiteds and some sheep hunts so stock shows some wear that I’d love to keep.

PM if interested.

Honestly seems like a bigger headache to have them transferred through an FFL than it would be to just to have a local smith chop and thread it for $100.

You’re not wrong, but I really want the flared muzzle with 5/8x24 for my suppressor. Not willing to go to a adapter at this point and can’t chop short enough to rethread 5/8x24. FFL is super easy for me so no issues there.

What steps would be involved with bedding the thinner barrel in the stock that previously had the 18.5” barrel? Can bedding compound make up the difference, or would there generally be too wide of a gap at that point?

Genuinely curious as I have the 18.5” barrel, but living in Canada there is no shot I’ll ever be allowed a can outside of some incredible miracle. I’ve considered seeking out a 21” model at times.

Curious what you have against a well built adapter?

I’ve been told they are the exact same dimensions in the stock channel, just differ where the flair begins near 18”. That was some time ago and I forget by who. I did find an adapter that has the flair and shoulder I want so will probably end up going that route for ease.

The barrel channels are a bit different. You can open yours up, but the other guy will have a goofy looking gun.

Link to the adapter?

Shaen Rifles does the adapters. Looks like I’ll go that route, didn’t realize the inlets were different on these. Thanks all for the info.

Looks like quality work.
