6 arc 70gr nosler ballistic tip.6 arc with 58gr Vmax - 3300 fps out of my 16.5" proof (bolt action). Stupid accurate and the few I've shot with it so far were DRT with no exit.
The 22-250 is still a great all around big and small varmint cartridge. The 50 packs of ammo are nice if time is short and there are a ton of little varmints. Everyone should have a 22-250 to play with. However, heavy bullets are interesting and I picked up a 22 creed thinking it won’t get used much. If someone is saving pelts heavy bullets aren’t an advantage. I’ve become more protective of the creed, not wanting to loan it and to put extra wear on the bore, and if long range shots are possible it’s the one I reach for. I’d do the same thing if it were a fast twist 22-250 and the 22-250 AI is a ballistic twin of the creed. What you running this year for coyotes specifically?
I’m switching from 22 arc to 22 creedmoor I think
Im supprised you dont like hornady. They are an almost western company that makes some excellent bullets and powders, and keeps the market balanced on price. If we didnt have them im certain most ammunition would be considerably more expensive. The good thing about them is their inexpensive stuff is not junk. They have also brought us a few good calibers over the years. 17 hmr was a hornady creation. The 22-250 is still a great all around big and small varmint cartridge. I don’t really like Hornady or the entire existence of the Creedmoors, but they are the easy way to get a fast twist. Ordering the Shilen barrel from Midway had it here in two days ready to screw on for under $400. The same barrel could be ordered as a fast twist 22-250 or AI directly from Shilen, but the wait times nowadays involve a lot of uncertainty.
I went through this 5 years ago with my ruger m77 tang safety. Boat tails wont shoot in it. Speer tnt tumbled. The hornady 110 vmax does fly. Its 6" higher than my 180 interlocks at 100 yards. I had success with ramshot hunter powder and reloader 22.Well have been trying to get the 110s to shoot in my 300 win mag but have only gotten them to run 3400 fps so far, so maybe the 6 creed or my 6 arc
