What did you do in the reloading room today?

Tikka actions can have pressure signs show up earlier than others, 59 with a 156 sounds pretty spicy. I ran up to 59 with a 143 on new brass and ran it at 58, with formed brass I had to drop the charge because 58 was fairly stiff bolt lift. Interested to see where you land.
I might end up pulling the bullets but I get pretty pissed when I drive all the way to the range and don’t find pressure. VV load data can be on the low side. I’ve had to go a decent amount over their published numbers on a few guns.

I fixed my lee power trim that wasnt trimming. processed 180ish 6creed and loaded 40 for a second round of testing.

hornady case
CCl large magnum
A4350 36.4-40.5
108 ELDM factory seconds(i think)
COL 2.793

My gun shot 1/2moa within that charge range, trying to get it dialed in. still brand new to this and having loads of fun!

FINALLY got some H-4895. It cost $73, which is just...there isn't a 'fainting' emoji, is there? My older bottle of Reloader-15 says $35. Holy cow!
But it was this or work up another load with another powder. And if I didn't like those results, get another? I'll just pay the $$$. The V.V.-135 and -140 looked tempting though
BTW: it's for a 150 sierra game king. The load right on the can. It shoots great out of my X-bolt and I get the upper 2800's neighborhood that it says. I wasn't out, but I didn't have enough for another full box.

Here’s the brass from 59gr of N565. Obviously I’m not going to run here but it’s not as bad as the internet would make you believe. It had the slightest touch of a heavier bolt lift.

I shot 5 rounds at 58 and only got an ejector mark on the last round. Here’s the pic of the 5 rounds.

loaded up some 6arc with 95gr LRX
All trimmed to 1.475”, 2.290 OAL (.050 off the lands)
28.5/28.2/27.9/27.6gr Varget

Used the max book data from Barnes. I’ll start at the lowest load and work up. From what I have seen on robs reloading bench, he started getting some extractor marks near 28gr so I wanted to start a little lower and work my way up.

I also have leverevolution but I want to see how varget works first. Especially since Barnes doesn’t list lever for their bullets.

Will be testing them out of my howa 22” once I get some time.

Loaded 150 rounds of 243, 200 rounds of 5.56, and prepped some 45 ACP brass, need to work up a load for it with some 225 grain lead bullets.

Lots over the last few days. We shot at NRA Whittington last weekend and with 3 shooters and several guns, there’s lots to do.

  • Decapped, resized, wet tumbled, trimmed, annealed several hundred rounds of various cartridges ranging from 6.5x47 Lapua up to 338 Norma Improved.
  • Finished setting up my 338 caliber cutting head for the Henderson trimmer
  • Did a massive cleanup and reorganization of the loading room, will have several items in the classifieds over the next few days.
On another note, I made 3 hits on a 36” round plate at 1 mile with a factory Tikka Roughtech in 300WSM. Berger 208LRHT bullets, N555 powder, ADG brass, CCI250 primers, 4-14x42 baby ATACR scope with Mil-R reticle, 2855fps average over 20 rounds. The wind was averaging 9mph with up to 22mph gusts.

Making me question the need for several thousand $$ custom rifles, LOL.

Loaded up 30 rounds of 135 g A-tips for my 6.5 CM. Something to test out and shoot other than my normal 147 ELDM and 156 EOL loads. Hoping to do some testing on some pigs or aoudad soon with all three loads.
Hey @TxhunterPRC
shoot me a PM when you test these 135g A-tips. I want to try some in my CM. I`d be interested in what recipe ingredient you try on yours.

Thanks brother

Loaded up 6 Dasher for the Howa mini. Not sure I’ll be able to get to the range with the weather now.

95tmk, 108eldm, 87vmax over Varget and Lever

Hoping that this will be my last load development trip before loading up a bunch to take it to distance.

Those are the good things I did.

The dumb things I did:

Modified a magazine past usefulness - sanded feed lips to where I thought was good, turns out I didn’t account for spring tension, so too much. Ruined.

Ran out of Varget thought I had another can. It was lever. Holy crap Varget is expensive now.

Annealed 20 rounds of dasher brass and dumped them onto a towel like always do. Smelled plastic. Turns out a synthetic towel made its way into my pile of not synthetic towels. Now I have 20 rounds of expensive brass with plastic melted to them.

What gets plastic melted onto brass off of it easily?

Not my best day in the reloading room haha!
