What to expect?

So this September I'm going to Colorado for my first ever elk hunt with a few friends. We'll be in unit 81. I applied for a mule deer tag not really expecting to get drawn, but I did. So I'm pretty excited. With that said, what are the mule deer numbers like in 81 for you guys that have hunted there before? Realistically do I have a better chance of killing a mule deer than an elk? I'm halfway thinking about the possibility of not even buying an elk tag and just mule deer hunting...

If you have the money....get the elk tag. Why not, right? Always the situation where you don't buy it - don't see any mule deer and have bulls all around you. Pricey "What-If" tag, but just like carrying a gun. "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it"

Makes sense!! I"ll probably end up buying an elk tag too. I've talked to a few folks that hunt 81 and I'm pretty stoked to have drawn a tag.
