Picked up a Cimarron from the SO blemish sale last week. Planning to use it with an ultralight titanium stove in the backcountry. From research it sounds like the Silky pocketboys are the best saw to use.

I was looking at either the 130 or the 170 - thoughts on which one is suitable? 130 is smaller and cheaper, but is the blade long enough?

Also, seems like the ‘medium’ teeth are best for wood - thoughts?

hi, i have i think every silky. a spiky will effective cut 2/3 of its blade length. so if you know what size limbs you will be cutting you can estimate that abasing the length.

to me a bigger point, is if dead wood it is harder that live, and you want the medium teeth or possible fine, not the more aggressive large.

I’d recommend this one cuts sizable wood quickly and can be used on bone and very light and quick to change a blade

I use the 130mm curved pocketboy (yellow). I've cut logs up to 6" diameter with no trouble. Absolutely love that saw.

I carry two blades with mine. A large and a fine tooth, for wood and bone. Can be changed in seconds with a coin.

Medium and 130 should be ideal. I carry a 170 and can cut pretty good size logs for clearing trails.

I recommend the curved blade if you don’t have the intention of using it for bushcrafting and need precise cuts. I’d estimate 20-30% more efficiency over straight.

I take the Zubat for base camp for larger firewood for a big stove but carry the 130 medium in my pack all the time for ground blinds & quartering. You won't have any problem cutting thru bone (including your own).
