Wyoming Mule Deer General D

So I put in for Wyoming general D tag this year and I anticipate drawing a tag as I have 3 points. Not looking for a trophy just a good time. My biggest concern in waiting was how long it would take to build points for a "good area" and still have a hard time drawing a tag. Anyone hunt D that could give me some broad pointers, not specific areas but maybe some guidance on what to expect? My thought is that October will be high country unless the snow comes in? Snow covered peaks or high hunting pressure will push them into the dark timber? I have read Robby's book several time and trying to learn all I can, any other books you recommend?

Personally haven't seen many big bucks in the dark timber. Look high and on the fringes until snow pushes them down lower.
Have seen a few bedded in the edge of the timber, shade.
