    6.5 prc??

If it's not too heavy the 3-12 Bushnell LRHS is a good one. Better glass than SWFA and just a dependable.

    6.5 prc??

It just depends on what kind of hunting you do as to which scope. I use a Swaro Z5 3.5-18 with 4w reticle and BT on my lightest mid range rifle. I don't trust it like I trust my Bushnell LRHS, but I use the Swaro close to home so it wouldn't be any issue to change guns.

    6.5 prc??

A NF SHV would also work, the 3-10 isn't too heavy. Leupold isn't in the same class, reliability speaking.

    New caliber, wich one?

Since you are enjoying playing at long range ,get the 6.5 Creed. I recommend a Tikka CTR.

    6.5 prc??

SWFA SS 3-9 or Nightforce 2.5-10 NXS are the lightest totally trustworthy scopes I know of. After that they just go up in weight. I also like a lighter package but I also feel that the main reason to use a light rifle is so you can use the glass you want and still have a reasonable weighted package.

Is this an okay bedding job?

It's not acceptable in any way. I would have looked before I paid but I would get my money back or else.

    270 saum

I don't know what could be in non lead bullets, and there are likely some bullets softer than others, but right now, I think the good long range hunting bullets aren't mono's. I wouldn't tolerate a heavier gun and more recoil just to shoot a bullet that won't do as well as a smaller caliber...

    270 saum

I would be trying my best not to shoot mono's at 500 yards. You are loosing out on BC and many better bullets that buck wind better and don't loose speed as fast as mono bullets. Is non lead a requirement?

    270 saum

If 400 or even 500 yards is going to be your limit, and you want a light weight rifle for mountain hunting, I would not buy a magnum anything. All a mag will accomplish at those ranges is to give you a heavier rifle, harder to feed, with more recoil and muzzle blast than necessary. For your...

    Lightweight 7mm-08

+1 You will be money ahead to get the Barrett.

    My new Merkel

That's a shotgun anyone could be proud of. One thing about the Merkels, that I like is that they seem even overbuilt with their bank vault actions and one would think they would be overly heavy but I find them much more nimble and quick than appearances would suggest.

    My new Merkel

Thanks for the congrats. I traded a nearly new 686 20 ga 29.5" barrels toward this shotgun. I thought I would like the Beretta, and it felt really good to me ,but I couldn't hit with it as well as with my model 8 Merkel, so when this trade opportunity came up, I took it.

    My new Merkel

I have really been blessed with some good deals. I picked up a very nice model 8 Merkel SXS a few years ago for $650,which is about 1/4 what it's worth, and I found this one for about half what it was worth, and even then I wouldn't have been able to afford it without a trade.

    Need a new rifle

Are you wanting a long range rifle or a lighter general purpose rifle? Why the need to shoot 800 yards? I wouldn't use a stock Tikka T3 for a long range rifle, and I wouldn't put a 6-24X50 on a general purpose hunting rifle.

    My new Merkel

Just wanted to share this beautiful gun I just traded for. I've wanted one for a long time and never thought I could afford it. I would have never paid for a new one and for 10 years I haven't found one I could afford this nice until now. I managed a trade plus cash or I never would have bought...

.308 or 300 win mag for elk hunting

I would take the one I was most confident shooting. If it's a wash, then I would take the 300 Win.

    Beginner ideas

A heavy bow will only help hide a bad release. It would be better to learn to make a good clean release with a lighter bow then making up for it with more draw weight.

    take down ILF system

I'll take some pictures and se what I can do to post them in a few days. I haven't posted any pictures on any forum though since Photobucket.

    Athlon ares btr thoughts?

No matter what you choose, I wouldn't let a few ounces bother me in a scope of that class anyway.

    take down ILF system

From what I've seen, people who don't like metal risers prefer wood because it seems more traditional to them. I don't even think about what's traditional or not. It would be kind of silly for me to want a wood riser for tradition while using carbon foam limbs and a high tech string, and...
