How far are you fixing to shoot? Inside 500 yards no animal is going to notice the couple hundred less fps from the -06. Beyond 500 with the right load they're both capable of 1,000 yards and you're dialing by then anyways.

Just a quick search for brass on Ammoseek shows $65/20 ($3.25/piece) of .257 Wby unprimed brass. New .25-06 brass is tough to come by, but you can get new or 1x fired brass in .30-06 or .270 for less than 1.75/piece and neck it down. You can get range brass for waaaaay less than $1.75.

Love all the .25s, but even if you're reloading the wthby is going to cost more to shoot.

Yeah its going to cost more but comparing new brass to range brass really isnt an apples to apples comparison, but I also wouldn't say that the 2506 is a fraction of the cost to shoot. I also wouldn't shoot game at 1000yds with either but the 2506 is running out of steam before the 257 does

Now see I heard the big guy up above only says that to not offend all those old guys that still believe everything 06 related is the greatest but he actually hunts with a fast twist 25 SAUM. ;)

Yung pups and their fancy whizbangers. While not old physically, mentally and at heart I am and old codger sometimes.
