Yeah I can’t kick coffee yet but I do add a quarter stick of butter every cup. Just got my blood work back after a month and a half of carnivore and my cholesterol raised a bit. I feel amazing though and my lifts have never been better.

Blood pressure dropped as well, even though I’m using TRT for the past few months. It was slowly rising before switching to carnivore.

I have historical marginal kidney filtration ratio and when I did carnivore it pushed my kidneys a little more than my doctor cared for. If you have normal kidneys that is no an issue and it is indeed a great elimination diet, and sustainable - you just gotta get creative on food preparation. I was clear to me after a month that you absolutely do not need ANY fiber for your gut - eat enough fats and it is not an issue whatsoever. Another food "myth" that is garbage.............

I had done blood work soon after I started Carnivore. Dr wanted me on statins, I said no, see you in 90 days. I had that done today and my cholesterol went up, especially the LDL. So now the Dr really wants me on meds. So we negotiated and I am doing a Coronary Artery Calcium Scan and a Carotid Artery Disease scan. These are both out of pocket expenses, but better than meds if I don't need them. Watching a couple youtube vids, one of them explained why your LDL would go up, and why potentially its not a bad thing. See what the scan says in a few weeks. TG was 101, which was really good IMO.
Weight is down 36 lbs, BP is down some (wasn't an issue).
Also, I REALLY enjoy the diet, but I have cheated some the last month. But right back to it the next day. When I cheat I use real ice cream and not soft serve... hehe

Care to share how much those cost you out of pocket. About the only thing I want to get done and I was curious how much it would be.

How much is the out of pocket expense for the tests? I’d like to complete one myself.

I had those done in Brookings, SD at the clinic, $50 each for a total of $100. I don’t know if that was a special or what but they were doing it Tuesdays and Thursdays, had to get an appt.

Yeah it’s interesting to see doctors reactions to this way of eating. It seems the cholesterol worries most but DR Matt Budoff and DR Berry have a bit of good literature on how high cholesterol in certain folks may not be that big of an issue.

I didn't read through the whole thread. What is the rough occurrence of brain fog at the start of eating this way? I need to reset myself since I have been sedentary more the last 2 years and eating ok but still too much garbage. I have a few weeks left of classes and then a licensing exam to sit for and I do not want to have mental effects right now.

Coming off the sugars/ carbs and your body converting to fat burning can cause some.
But sometimes just the lag, memory some other things you may notice are clearer, sharper after getting off the other stuff.

I’ve been on carnivore for about 6 weeks now. I didn’t have any brain fog either, I watched and read a bunch of stuff about eating plenty of fat and also salt. I use a packet of LMNT once a day to help with that and I think it’s helped. I’m down 30 pounds in the 6 weeks. I haven’t done any bloodwork but should. My heart rate is 12-14 bpm lower than it was and I feel great. My goal is at least a year on carnivore. The only question I have is how to maintain this while in the backcountry? I have a sheep hunt in August and I’m curious if carnivore is feasible during the hunt.

Man, some of you guys I hear about are dropping the weight like crazy, other than activity I must have some ratio wrong or something. Been watching some of the videos on you tube with like dr baker and a few others that have been doing this for a while and seems like they eat when they want, eat till they are full and that can be 1 to 2 times a day maybe and that's it.

I am not seeing anything dramatic or eye opening, just feeling better so far.

Do you have plenty of weight to lose or are you fairly lean already?

It depends on how you were eating before. If you already ate fairly well you probably won't see the drastic differences as some do. I was similar, not any crazy weight loss but I already ate fairly decent and wasn't way overweight. I noticed mostly better overall feeling in my joints and muscle recovery.

I was kind of eating like time didn't matter, snacking and over eating, shit food, sweets and all. Never really soda or juices too much and not a lot of alcohol, but no real management.

Much of our meals would be good, but there was much more fast food, carbs and sugars, flavored coffees than now.

How long have you been on carnivore?
