The long action is long, busting through brush in Alaska last season there were a few times I wished I had short action. The 26” barrel with brake is a big stick to be walking around with. The recoil with the brake is very mild, doesn’t feel any more than my .308 Win rifle.

Pictured below is my Ridgeline in 30 Nosler. Weight is rifle, VX-5HD 3-15X44, Hawkins rings and claw sling.

300 yard group during sight in. Factory Nosler 210ABLD.

If you do get a Ridgeline, check your action screws when you mount your scope, mine were not locktite and I had one come loose.
I found customer service at Christensen to be top notch, they answered the phone and responded to my emails.

I do plan on upgrading to a titanium side discharge brake and I saw that there is a carbon fiber magazine box that can be had from Christensen. The box that came with mine is stainlessand feels heavier than it needs to be.

All in all, this seems like an incredible value in a good rifle.

That’s another thing I was worried about with the 300wm is the extra length of action and barrel. That, the extra weight, and all reviews I’ve read of people with the 300WSM. Seems everyone with a wsm do not have a hard time getting the 200 and even a little more shooting well even with the shorter mag length. So I’m pretty sure that is what I will be ordering and putting a bushnell LRHS 4-18 on it. What bases and rings would you recommend

If you're serious about long range go with the Win Mag. If 700 yards is your max go with the WSM. The mag box is 2.880 in the WSM. I find I can get a number of loads with different COAL's that will shoot MOA at 700 in the mag box. If I really wanted to load 200's I would go long action. 180-190's will take everything in North America when put in the right place and have the energy needed at 700 out of the WSM.

I may shoot paper or steal at 1000 but realisticly I don’t see myself attempting to kill an animal past 5-700 for a while and a few 1000rounds. I’m pretty sure I’m going to get the WSM.

I think that’s a good choice, for what you want to do with it. If you REALLY get into LR (or ELR) is just add another rifle to your collection and leapfrog the 300wm and go to a 300 Norma or straight into something like a 338Edge or Terminator. I love my 300wm but on my new build I’m going with 300wsm (and s coupe other short action calibers - it’s a Switchlug) for that reason. I couldn’t see the advantage over the wsm under 700yds and I could see loads of advantage in the 300NM and, especially, the 338T for 800yds+. If it weren’t for the widespread availability of 300wm ammo, I’d probably phase out my 300wm once I have a couple more rifles finished.
