Great pack... go with the medium belt. I'm a 36 waist, but I thought, with layers and whatnot... I should have paid more attention to the instructions. I bought the medium after one hunt with the large. It's plenty. These guys are great to deal with and well worth a call or email if you have any doubts or questions.

What issues did you have with the x curve?

Frame bars hit me in the back below my shoulder blades where they crossed. The flat frame works better for me.

I run the 5900 on the first gen x curve and really like it. Makes heavy loads feel lighter. I bet the new x curve is great too.
