Stove Pipe build up

So what do you guys do to clean the stove pipe soot?

I try to scrape it but it is getting on there pretty good now and like a slury layer rather than the normal chunks I could just flick off w/knife

I imagine this will out weigh the pipe after a while
lol

I've been running a course sanding disk quickly across it when ever I roll it up, but the slury is getting pretty thick at the stove body end.

So is that Trisodium Phosphate similar to regular chimney cleaner log material?

I have one of those in my garage some where, but never thought about that - duhh

just looked up the trisodium phosphate- appears it is a cleaner to better prep surfaces you're going to paint.

I've never experienced this much creosote in a titanium pipe in camp (but haven't used it for more than 2 nights at a time though, and always nice dry wood). For my home stove, I take the pipe outside and stand it up but over the edge of a brick or something so there's plenty of air below it, loosely wad newspapers in it, and light it at the ground end. Turns that sticky creosote to a crust that flakes off when you smack the outside of the pipe with your hand. Wouldn't work in a backpacking situation, but would be fine in a base camp situation near your vehicle if you took along a supply of paper.

thx guys
My stuff is caked on where the sand paper wont affect it. Will try the newspaper burn idea and hit it while its still warm

Buying this is one of the best $20 purchases I've ever made. Aside from starting grills/smokers (primary use) its great for other things. Even used it to roast peppers. I imagine it would do some work on pipe residue too.
