leupold Mark 5 HD 5-25x56 with a pr1 Moa reticle. Scope is in excellent shape and was never carried, only shot off a bench in a .223 bolt gun approximately 500 rounds. Scope covers always used. 1700 shipped obo. Only selling because I bought the same scope with a different reticle that better...
Personally I would memorize my DOPE at distances I could be shooting at. Where I hunt the shots are generally less than 100 yards, but know my DOPE for that rifle/load out to 350. If I had to shoot further I would do it ahead of time and know. IMO there’s too much error relying on just math...
If I were shooting that far at an animal I wouldn’t depend on math, I would depend on DOPE and already know my adjustments out the distance I’d be comfortable shooting.
Either one is fine. If being used properly, the argument of meters vs yards is out the window. They are simply tape measures in different scales. You shouldn’t be saying an inch high at 400 yards, you should be saying .25 min high because you measured it with your scope, and then adjusted...
Nice gun. I love 44 mags, Iv got 2 in the 629 platform. A -3 classic hunter and a -5 classic in 5” with a factory trigger/action job. The -5 has a very nice trigger. I too would check with smith as they may offer these services, unless someone else chimes in with a famous S&w gunsmith.
Depending on the platform, you can swap barrels relatively easy and just have one set up. I believe the tikkas they make pre fits for. I’m waiting on my zermatt origin barreled action to come in. I got it in .223 for now but I will get other barrels down the road and can swap the bolt...
16” would leave plenty of room for a can. Maby I could sell my 5-25 and buy something more suited for this. I wouldn’t want to take too big of a hit on it, not sure what I could get for it. What’s the realistic effective range from a 450 BM in a bolt gun?
Hi guys. I live in SE Pennsylvania and they recently passed that straight wall rifle cartridges are allowed. I sold one of my slug guns and I have a scope laying around (leupold mark 5 hd 5-25 with pr1 moa reticle.). I’m on the fence of either selling the scope and using my 44 mag lever gun...
